Our mental health services

Evidence-based psychological support for stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout and life transitions. Therapy is tailored to the individual and may include Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based strategies and practical behaviour change work, with a focus on skills you can use in everyday life.

Support does not focus only on what is going wrong. Our positive psychology approach helps you build emotional steadiness, clearer thinking, stronger habits and greater resilience — practical human skills that support you at work, at home, in sport and in the goals that matter to you.

Our nurse practitioners provide assessment, ongoing support and care coordination for mental health concerns as part of your overall healthcare. Where clinically appropriate, they work alongside our psychologist and your regular GP so your care remains consistent and connected.

Eligible patients can access mental health support through secure telehealth consultations from anywhere in Australia — a convenient option for busy schedules, regional and rural communities, or anyone who prefers to receive care from home.

Injury and persistent pain affect more than the body. Frustration, low mood, disrupted routines, fear of re-injury and the slow grind of rehabilitation can take a real mental toll — and can, in turn, slow physical recovery. Our psychologist provides evidence-informed support, including CBT-based approaches for chronic pain, to help you manage the psychological side of recovery, stay engaged with your rehabilitation, and rebuild confidence and function. Where appropriate, this is coordinated with your treating doctors, physiotherapist or rehabilitation providers — including care under DVA or WorkCover arrangements.
Our mental health team
At The New Clinic, we know that the best mental health outcomes often come from combining the right medical treatment with evidence-based psychological therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Research shows that, for many people, an integrated approach leads to greater improvements and better long-term outcomes than medication or therapy alone.
That's why our Nurse Practitioners and Psychologists work together as one multidisciplinary team, providing coordinated, personalised care that addresses both the biological and psychological aspects of mental health—ensuring your treatment is tailored, evidence-based and focused on helping you achieve lasting wellbeing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Our team supports a broad range of concerns including stress, anxiety, low mood, burnout, adjustment to life changes, relationship strain, and periods where things feel overwhelming or unclear. The most suitable support is determined through an individual consultation.
No. Support does not need to begin at crisis point. Many people seek help simply because they want to feel more steady, capable and clear in how they are moving through life. Early support can also help prevent smaller concerns from becoming bigger ones.
Referral requirements may vary depending on the service, practitioner and your circumstances, and can affect eligibility for rebates such as Medicare. Contact our team before booking if you need guidance.
Depending on your circumstances, psychology sessions may be accessible with Medicare rebates (with a valid GP referral and Mental Health Treatment Plan), DVA arrangements, private health insurance extras cover, or WorkCover. Eligibility, referral requirements and rebate amounts vary between individuals and funding schemes — contact our team before booking and we will help you understand what applies to you.
It is not an either/or choice. The right approach depends on your individual circumstances, and for many people research suggests that combining psychological therapy with appropriate medical care can support better outcomes than either alone. Because our psychologist and nurse practitioners work within one clinic, your care can be coordinated across both — always guided by clinical assessment and your preferences.
Yes. Injury recovery and persistent pain can affect mood, motivation, sleep and confidence — and psychological support, including CBT-based approaches for chronic pain, can help you manage the mental load of recovery and stay engaged with rehabilitation. Where appropriate, we coordinate with your treating doctors and rehabilitation providers, including under DVA or WorkCover arrangements.
Your practitioner will take time to understand your concerns, health history, circumstances and goals in a confidential, judgement-free consultation, and then recommend appropriate next steps.
Positive psychology focuses on building strengths, resilience and wellbeing — not only reducing symptoms. In practice, it means practical, skills-based support that helps you manage pressure, regulate emotion and bring out your best at work, with your family, in sport, and in everyday life.
Our nurse practitioners provide assessment, ongoing support and care coordination for mental health concerns as part of your broader healthcare. Where clinically appropriate, they work alongside our psychologist and your regular GP so your care stays consistent and connected.
